Co-Coach Vilakazi Resigns From AmaZulu
After only five months on the job, Vusumuzi Vilakazi has resigned as the co-coach of AmaZulu FC.
Back in October 2024, Usuthu announced that Vilakazi would co-manage the Durban-based outfit alongside former Kaizer Chiefs coach, Arthur Zwane.
According to a club statement released on Tuesday, 25 February, it was announced that Vilakazi had mutually agreed to part ways with AmaZulu effective immediately.
“In his letter of resignation, Vilakazi referred to the personal matters [which] require his urgent attention, making it impossible for him to fully commit to his responsibilities at the club,” the statement reads.
“Club President Sandile Zungu has accepted Vilakazi’s request to be relieved of his duties with immediate effect. This transition leaves Arthur “Phakimpi” Zwane as the sole head coach going forward.”
In a subsequent radio interview on Ukhozi FM, Zungu explained that Vilakazi was “facing issues that he felt were distracting his job”, leading the 41-year-old tactician to resign in order to address them.
“We wish him well in dealing with these demons so he can be better,” said Zungu.
